Students Positively Perceive STEM During Afterschool Programs March 09, 2017 Recent research shows that afterschool programs change the way a student perceives STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. Researchers carried out a study which analyzed more than 160 afterschool programs in 11 states. These researchers analyzed the programs, interviewed students, and collected completed surveys from instructors. Findings from the research is shown below. The results further demonstrate that afterschool programs help youth gain skills for school and potential future jobs. These programs are helping students obtain STEM skills they can use for essentially any career in their near futures and are encouraging students to explore these different careers. PCG Education provides school districts with afterschool programs to further STEM learning and support students striving to discover STEM careers.
