UI Director – Accounting and Finance

Gail brings more than three decades of savvy professional knowledge of accounting practices and procedures to UI. In her role, Gail applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports, maintain, and oversee the control of accounts and records, and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Gail is highly skilled at monitoring, reviewing, and verifying accounting records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness, and adequacy of supporting documentation. On a routine schedule, she determines current financial balances to produce schedules, summary reports, income statements, and other accounting and financial documents in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Gail is well versed on company policies related to expenses and is responsible for the review and approval of expense transactions based on rationality and facticity. Gail is gifted at presenting data sets, using data visualization tools and financial analysis techniques to interpret, identify, and communicate trends and patterns in consultation with team members. Gail also serves on the Board of University Instructors as Assistant Treasurer and is responsible for presenting the financial status of UI at quarterly board meetings. Gail has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Bridgewater College, in Bridgewater, Virgina.
